What are these marks?Updated 10 months ago

"Beauty Marks" are a Sign of Quality

Our plateware has pin marks, which we call "beauty marks", as a result of the glazing process where our plateware is suspended to allow for a full glaze.

This process eliminates the need for an unfinished foot, or rim, on the underside of the plate, making each piece more scratch-resistant and durable.

The number of pin marks and placement can vary between pieces as well. This shows the hand-crafted nature of our English-made plateware.

Why Fully-Vitrified Cookware is Better without an Unfinished Foot

Fully vitrified cookware is more durable and more resistant to scratching your countertops, tables and other plateware when stacked. The other alternative you'll see is a hand-finished foot on other plateware. This tends to wear off over time, leading to scratches and the spread of bacteria when you stack your plates.

If you believe the marks on your plate are more than a beauty mark, please reach out to our customer service team and include a few pictures of your plateware.
